What You Should Know Before Investing in Termite Control

It’s very common for our customers to have questions about termite control before they decide on getting a treatment. We understand, there is a lot to know. For those of us at Arizona’s Best Choice, we welcome these questions and do our best to give the most accurate answers to help you understand the basics of termite control treatments. Below you will find a list of the 5 most commonly asked questions regarding termite control.

1. How Much Does Termite Treatment Cost?

There are many factors in treating a home that add to the cost of the termite treatment. In order to get an accurate price on a termite service, we recommend to our clients that they get a free inspection on the home. The purpose of the inspection is to

  • Give us the ability to look at the level of infestation.
  • Properly identify the foundation types of their home.
  • Find out what the termites are using as a point of entry into their home.
  • Create a treatment plan based on those points of entry and level of infestation.

2. If I Have Small Children and Pets, Are They Safe after Chemicals Have Been Sprayed?

There are some potential hazards that homeowners want to be aware of during the treatment. So typically, what we ask is that people keep their children and pets away from the technicians while they’re doing their work. All of the products that we use today are all registered with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The products are injected under and around the foundation. They’re designed to soak into the soil, and once they bond with the soil and the project is deemed complete, you and your family can go out and conduct business as usual. When it comes to safety during and after a termite control treatment, the best advice we can give you is to be informed, and take the necessary precautions to keep your children and pets out of harms way.

3. Why Does the Cost of Termite Treatment Vary so Greatly between Termite Companies?

There are multiple variables. The first variable is the foundation type of the home. The second variable is the linear footage of your home, meaning what is the measurement of the footprint of your home? A third variable is the type of material the termite control company is using. There are a wide variety of termiticides available on the market today. Some of them operate very well in Arizona soil.

Could a low-cost termite control service be too good to be true?

There also are many low-grade and low-cost generic products on the market today. While they provide the termite control operator with a lower chemical price point, and provide the consumer with a lower price point, they don’t always give you the best overall value, because they break down quickly and lose their overall effectiveness in control termites. Unfortunately, you are going to see a wide variety of pricing for pest & termite control through out Arizona, so it’s important to ask about the types of products that your termite control company plans to use for your treatment.

4. What Warranties Do You Offer?

All of our termite services at Arizona’s Best Choice are guaranteed. Our minimum warranty is for one year. We also have options where you can go up to five years of warranty, based, on your initial treatment. After the one- or five- year period of time, all of our warranties are renewable for the lifetime of your property. They’re also fully assignable if you ever sell your home. You will get a notice in the mail each year alerting you that it’s time for your annual warranty inspection. You simply give us a call at the office and we will schedule a convenient day and time for one of our uniformed technicians to come out to your home and perform a complete property inspection. If we find a reoccurrence of termites for whatever reason, we take care of any treatments necessary at our expense, not yours.

5. Is It Important to Get a Preventative Termite Treatment?

There are two types of homes– those that have termites, and those that are going to get them. And while, again, that’s not an exact science, one of the key elements in termite prevention is actually a good inspection. So minimally, what we recommend to customers that you have your home inspected once a year for termites, regardless of age or history. Based on an annual inspection, you can look into different options, whether it’s a preventative treatment, or, if you’ve kept up with an annual inspection, you can rest assured that if there is a termite infestation discovered, you’ve caught them early in the process, which will give them the ability to go in and do whatever treatment’s necessary early, before any real damage takes place.
