Physical Signs of a Termite Infestation: Part 1

Got Termites?  Not Sure?

In Arizona, every home or business should be inspected at least once a year, regardless of age of home, or history.  When termites decide to invade, they can be very tough to stop: not only are they crafty and persistent, but they’re virtually invisible right up until the damage is done.  Taking proactive measures with a termite home inspection is a great way to prevent costly repairs and restoration. However, if you suspect the damage is already underway, this article will help you recognize the tell-tale signs of termite infestations.

An experienced termite inspector will not only be able to alert you of a possible termite concern, but can also identify conditions conducive to a termite infestation and provide advice for correcting these conditions.

These are a sure sign of termite presence. Sometimes, the evidence is obvious, such as a noticeable mud tunnel on an exterior foundation of walls, or hanging out of an interior wall or ceiling.  However, sometimes the evidence can be inconspicuous, such as a spec of dirt on the wall that after it is scraped away reveals a hole in the drywall, or a bubble in the paint of an interior baseboard or door frame.  Subterranean termite tunnels can be rough in appearance, tubular, and built in an irregular pattern. Subterranean mud tunnels may also contain fecal matter- a health hazard that warrants the need for an immediate termite inspection.

Subterranean termite colonies live underground, and gain entry into homes along exterior foundation walls, interior cracks, or plumbing entry points.  Our trained termite staff provide years of experience it handling Arizona Termites and their entry points.
